Delaware Family Fishing CharterDelaware Family Fishing Charters would like to introduce your family to some of Delaware's unique on water fishing experiences. Our main focus is on the tag and release of endangered sharks that make their summers in the Delaware Bay. Sharks that can be expected to be caught include, Sandbar (locally called Brown), Sand tigers, Duskys, and the very elusive Atlantic Angel shark.  No sharks are removed from the water and all are released alive. Customers can expect to catch sharks ranging in length from 30 inches to over 8 feet in length. Not every shark is tagged, as we follow the National Marine Fisheries guidelines provided by the Apex Predator program.
Delaware Family Fishing offers additional services including bottom fishing for summer flounder, croaker and black seabass.  From the begining of May to the middle of June Delaware Family Fishing offers 8 hour drum fishing trips from 4 pm until midnight, catches of fish over 50 lbs are common.
Delaware Family Fishing primary goal is to provide a life long memory, and hopefully create a lifetime sportsman. While at all times supporting the conservation of fisheries according to the IGFA ethics.

What to expect
During a typical shark tagging expedition, you can expect to leave the dock and proceed to an area to catch live bait. We typically catch enough bait within an hour after leaving the dock. Once we have enough live bait, we will transit to the shark grounds, and drop anchor. We begin dripping fish-oil to attract the sharks to our location. We then put out rods with live-bait hooked through the back with a light wire circle hook. A balloon is attached to the snap swivel. The baits are placed in the water various distances back from the boat. Upon a shark taking the bait the balloon will streak across the water and that is when the fun begins. While the angler fights the fish, all others on the boat bring the other lines into the boat. Upon getting the shark along side the boat, we determine the species, sex, and using marks on the side of the vessel estimate the weight. Upon all of this information being recorded, a tag is place in the back against he dorsal fin. The shark is then released unharmed.
